An unsent piece of fanart of Minako Aino from the anime Sailor Moon that I did for YTV's The Zone circa April 1996, when I was 21.

Yes, I was a 21-year old man sending artwork based on a little girl's cartoon to a children's show. Sue me. Well, it was better than any of the other artwork shown on the show (except for this one other adult Sailor Moon who copied my schtick).

I actually got briefly famous on The Zone when P.J. Phil Guerrero (a.k.a. "P.J. Fresh Phil") and "Snit" kept on showing my Sailor Moon artwork on the air starting around October 1995. I even got a few pieces of fanmail!

Of course, hard-core Sailor Moon-atics will recognize this shot as coming from the Sailor Moon S episode, "Crazy for Celebrities! Mimet in Doubt" (Sailor Moon episode 114), the episode wherein Minako and Mimet both compete to be eye candy in superstar Jinta Araki's next film.

One lasting legacy of the Sailor Moon artwork I did for The Zone was that I learned to draw well using coloured pencils on card instead of paper, and card is still my favourite material to draw on to this day.
